Human values or Secular ethics

"While murder, bullying, exploitation and scandal regularly make news, when thousands of children receive their mother’s care and affection every day it isn’t reported because we take it for granted. We may be subject to negative emotions, but it’s possible to keep them under control, to cultivate a sense of emotional hygiene, on the basis of human values that are rooted in that affection - what I call secular ethics." (From His Holiness the Dalai Lama's facebook on June 20, 2013)

"What HHDL means by Human values or Secular ethics are the following reason: Compassion, Warm-heart, Gentleness, Kindness, Care, Sincerity, Honesty, Self-confidence, Trust, Respect, Appreciation, Modesty, Self-discipline, Patience, Tolerance, Forgiveness, Sympathy, Empathy, Generosity, Non-violence…etc. Human values or Secular ethics isn't based on religions. But all major religions are based on Human values or Secular ethics."

(My commentary to HHDL's above message)
