1) There is a song that we like to sing; I have arrived, I am home.
2) Mindfulness is to always arrive in the here and the now.
3) You have been running a lot, but you have not arrived.
4) So, the practice of mindfulness helps us to learn how to live our lives deeply, that way we will not waste our life.
5) You look into the sky and you see a beautiful cloud. The cloud has become the rain. And when you drink your tea, you can see your cloud in your tea.
6) The past is no longer there. The future is not yet there. There is only the present moment.
1') "I'm aware I have arrived. I am home in the here and now." This shows that awareness (non-separate self) has revived in the here and now. Awareness is always joyful and happy in the present moment, touching the wonders of life. Until now ego (separate self) has been wandering in the past or the future with regret, sorrow, fear and anxiety.
2') We need to be mindful 24 hours a day to be alive in the present moment. The dispersion of our mind in the past or the future is called 'forgetfulness'. A person who lives in forgetfulness is a walking corpse. Mindfulness enables us to be alive both physically and spiritually.
3') Most people are running to look for happiness in the future. But the happiness is available only in the present moment. So, if you arrive in the here and the now, you will be able to be happy. Mindfulness is the solution.
4') The practice of mindfulness means conscious breathing, sitting, walking ...etc. If we live in forgetfulness, we will waste our life. But if we live in mindfulness, we will have meaningful life, touching the true nature of reality.
5') Thay taught this little girl that there is no birth and no death, instead there is only continuation, through the example of a cloud which continues as water. And she understood that "your cloud" means her doggy and smiled.
6') Life is available only in the here and the now. But we have to remember that Thay said, “To dwell in the here and now does not mean you never think about the past or responsibly plan for the future. The idea is simply not to allow yourself to get lost in regrets about the past or worries about the future. If you are firmly grounded in the present moment, the past can be an object of inquiry, the object of your mindfulness and concentration. You can attain many insights by looking into the past. But you are still grounded in the present moment.”
